THESE extraordinary pictures have surfaced from Brian Gibson of March, part of the family's collection from his late father.
The photographs, we believe taken in the late 1950s or possibly early 1960s, show Jim Upton with his Christmas staff at his 'plucking shed' in Lamb's Yard, off Creek Road, March.
Mr Upton, a well-known poultry dealer, is seen above with Tom Hopkins, his foreman.
The family business, J R Upton and Sons, specialised in poultry and pigs and was at one time based in Wimblington. The business closed about 35 years ago after Mr Upton's death.
His son Peter, a local photographer, did not carry on the business- but was delighted to be reminded of part of the town's history and of his late father's enterprise.
