INSPIRATIONAL students at the College of West Anglia celebrated success at a special ceremony at the Isle Campus.
Lecturers across all faculties nominated students who were presented with a trophy by Principal David Pomfret to mark their achievements at the event in Wisbech.
More than 40 hard-working students were honoured at the ceremony including March apprentice Anthony Palmer. The 22-year-old won the college’s Apprentice of the Year 2011 award for gaining distinctions throughout his BTEC qualifications while he completed his apprenticeship at Stainless Metalcraft in Chatteris.
The inspirational award-winner battled cancer during his time as an apprentice and was described at the awards ceremony as an “inspiration” and a “pleasure to teach and work with”. Anthony also captains Chatteris Cricket Club’s first team.
Other winners included Jack Howling (Student of the Year Motor Sports), Zoe Cheetham (Student of the Year National Diploma Art and Design), Emily Welbourn (Student of the Year National Diploma Fashion and Clothing), Nadezda Konovalova (Student of the Year Skills For Life), Charles Mason (Level 1 Care/Childcare Student of the Year) and Edita Jurkute (Uniformed Services Student of the Year).
