A FIRE investigation is this morning underway in Whittlesey after around 50 firefighters battled a huge blaze at a factory unit last night.
Nine crews, a turntable ladder, a hazmat unit and a water carrier attended the incident at the Fenland Furniture factory on Station Road after a fire broke out at around 5.30pm.
Station road was closed in both directions and residents were advised to stay indoors and keep their windows shut.
Firefighters worked for hours to bring the blaze under control, tackling it from outside due to concerns over chemicals present inside the furniture manufacturers.
