IT was a tradition at West Walton Area School, for fourth-form girls to have a go at making a Christmas cake.
All girls in their final year in 1955 looked forward to the task under the supervision of their domestic science teacher Miss Softley.
Preparations were made over a number of weeks and the girls were allowed to decorate the cakes with their own designs - one of the most popular being Christmas trees.
