NEALE Wade Academy singer/songwriter Misty Jones will be appearing at the March Summer Festival.

Misty, 15, will be at the festival on Saturday June 8 and also at Party in the Park in Chatteris on June 29.

Then it is off to Peterborough on July 13 for the bigger Peterborough Willow Festival. Misty, who describes herself as: “a singer/songwriter with a passion for music”, had to audition against thousands of other acts to win her slot in the acoustic tent in the Peterborough event.

The Willow Festival attracted in excess of 50,000 visitors over the three days in 2012. Misty has performed across Cambridgeshire including the Junction in Cambridge, however, her largest crowd so far has been a modest 200 in comparison to what she can expect come July.

Far from being put off Misty said she was “really excited” adding: “I have always wanted to perform in front of large crowds”.

The youngster has her own page on Reverbnation, a website aimed at promoting musicians and labels, where fans can watch and listen to her songs and download her work. This has led to contact from fellow musicians and from a talent scout, all impressed with her work.

Misty’s mother puts her achievements down to “lots of practise and effort” but Misty, who is also currently taking her GCSEs, said though it might be tiring “it’ll be worth it in the end.”
