A splash of fabulous floral festivities won a trophy for Bizzee Bee Flowers in the St George's Day best dressed window contest.

Hazel Pearse, owner of the Robingoodfellows Lane florists shop was presented with the trophy by town mayor councillor Kit Owen.

He said: “The shop stood out straight away. The minute we saw Hazel’s display we knew it was the winner.”

The window was decked out with a dragon, St George, the trademark bees and a little castle along with brightly coloured flowers.

Hazel has owned the shop since April but worked there previously for a year and before that seven years at the Floral Centre in Wisbech.

She said: “I was surprised to win the trophy but it’s a great start for me in my new shop.”

Chairman of the March Chamber of Commerce Debbie Buck, of DK Therapy, said: “A variety of town businesses took part with a good selection of displays.

“We are hoping we get a massive response for the best dressed window for the next major event which is the Summer Festival on the weekend of Friday June 112.

The theme of this year’s festival is historic British characters incorporating the end of WWII and a theme of here comes summer.

To take part call into DK Therapy in Dartford Road or email debbie@dktherapy.co.uk.

The St George’s Day window contest was judged by Cllr Owen, Miss Cambridgeshire Amber Twell and Mr Cambridgeshire Chris Sheraton.
