Just two cyclists from March completed a recent county council survey into the success of its cycleways.
The council asked for cyclists across the county to complete a survey on aspects of the county’s many cycleways – including how they user friendly they are and safety – but only two completed questions on the Wimblington Road scheme.
Other schemes include Hills Road in Cambridge, which received 595 responses, and the A10 cycle scheme from Cambridge to Royston, which received 43.
Overall, 88 per cent of respondents felt safe using the cycleways and almost a third (32%) cycle more often following their creation.
Councillor Ian Bates, chairman of the economy and environment committee and transport portfolio holder for the Greater Cambridge Partnership, said: “These cycleway schemes are improvement projects which were part of various funds for the County Council to help get even more people on their bikes. We attract funding from Government and have invested millions of pounds in improving cycling which boosts the economy, reduces congestion and improves health.”
