MAKE-UP artist Kate Chandler had the celebrity world at her fingertips after working with the stars in fashion shows, on magazine shoots and theatre.

The 22-year-old now aims to help Fenland women brush up on their beauty routines and techniques.

Still freelancing as a make-up artist in London, she has set up a salon in March, and is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge and skills with clients at her salon.

Working on a huge celebrity fashion show was a dream come true for Kate, who trained at the London college of Fashion Design before deciding on a career as a make-up artist.

The former Wisbech Grammar School pupil said: "Although I trained in fashion I was always more interested in the make-up, beauty and styling side of things."

After gaining beauty therapy qualifications, she returned to London.

Further training at an academy led to her becoming a fully qualified make-up artist, covering all aspects of theatre, television, fashion and film.

Her work in London came through an agent, and Kate found herself helping to transform artists at the BRIT Awards, for films, fashion shows, and in theatre with the cast of the musical Oliver!

She said: "It was really good fun and a great experience. I met a lot of people and made some good contacts.

"Seeing my work in magazines or on stage was both exciting and rewarding."

But when the opportunity to start up on her own came along Kate decided the time was right.

Her salon, The Business, offers a wide range of treatments, including Dermalogica skincare, Fake Bake Tanning, nails, waxing, massage and, of course, make-up.

Kate specialises in air-brushed make-up. It is a new and innovative technique which gives a flawless finish that is guaranteed to last.

It is used widely in TV and stage work, but Kate now uses it on brides and others who are aiming for a special look for a special occasion.

Clients can also have a step-by-step lesson, learning how to get the look they want but have no idea how to achieve.

Kate said: "I want to share what I have learned with others. Educating people about how to look after their skin is very important."
