KETTLEBELL instructor Stephen Aish has organised a hefty challenge which will see a group of trainers lift one million kilograms in just 24 hours.

Mr Aish, from Christchurch, has organised the charity lift in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital with his friend Ross Holmes.

It takes place on December 14-15 at The Fitness Experts in Basingstoke, where Mr Holmes works.

They hope the 1 Million KG Challenge will raise 25,000.

Mr Aish said: “I’m a dad, Ross also has a child and we realise we are fortunate that they are healthy. It’s up to us to help those who are less fortunate.

I look at my son running around in circles and then think about how young the children are at the hospital with tubes up their noses. It hit me like a sledgehammer that they haven’t experienced an amazing life so far.

“It will be great to donate the money to the charity just before Christmas. We are also hoping it will become an annual event.”

Mr Aish is also encouraging other gyms across the country to set up similar events.

“It would be a win-win situation,” he said. “People are getting fit while raising money for the hospital.”
