PINTS will be pulled again in a Fenland village from today (Friday) when new owners reopen the doors to customers.

The Five Alls Pub, in High Street, Benwick, is the last remaining of 11 pubs that were in the village some 100 years ago, but has been closed for about six weeks after former owners Catherine and Dennis White moved out.

But Gina Tickner, along with husband Kevin White and daughter Carrie White, have stepped in and made sure the villagers can still take a trip to their local.

It is the first time that the Benwick family has run a pub, but it is something they are looking forward to.

"It is something we have always thought of doing," said Mrs Tickner, the new licensee. "We have always worked behind bars but never worked on our own so we just thought 'why not'. It is just going to be the way it was at first. Later on we might do food, but not at the moment."

The pub opens its doors again today (Friday) but the main opening event will be a disco hosted by Stewart Green, of Ramsey Road, Benwick, tomorrow (Saturday) evening starting at 8pm.

Visitors will have their general knowledge tested on Sunday night when photographer Rob Taylor, who lives in High Street, Benwick, holds a quiz night, also starting at 8pm.

The pub will be open from 5-11pm Monday-Thursday, 3pm-close Friday, midday-close Saturday and midday-10.30pm Sunday.

INFORMATION: The pub is named after the working man's timeless complaint - a Queen, "I govern all"; a barrister, "I plead for all"; a priest, "I pray for all"; a soldier, "I fight for all"; and a ploughman, "I pay for all".
