LETTER: ‘Been party to nastiness’

I have been party to Cllr Steve Tierney’s nastiness. At a meeting in the council chamber concerning the proposed renaming of the Hudson Leisure Centre.

I spoke up and said my piece as did several other members of the public. At the end of the meeting Cllr Tierney told me that I disgusted him (his exact words, though he does have a habit of denying things that he has said).

A slanging match ensued and I slammed the chamber door as hard as I could when I left. He should remember that we the public have as much if not more right to express our opinions as he has in his vainglorious world of grabbing the limelight to maximise his own political gains.
