In response to Nigel Johnson’s e-mail regarding the introduction of charges for the brown bin collection, I think the charge of £1.60 per collection represents excellent value for such a good service.
I will certainly be signing up and, as far as I know, all my friends and neighbours will do likewise.
I have a compost bin in my garden, but food waste attracts rats and I can’t compost large quantities of grass cuttings. The availability of free soil improver for the garden from the composted waste is an added bonus.
Congratulations to the members of the council who showed the courage to introduce this unpopular measure rather than withdrawing the service altogether. The silent majority are right behind you!
