A rainbow flag promoting equality, diversity and inclusion is being flown outside Cambridge University Hospital (CUH).

Tomorrow is the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, which highlights intolerance against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The Trust’s LGBT and Straight Alliance and Equality and Diversity Staff group organised the flag-hoisting and other events. Monica Jacot, CUH lead for equality and diversity, said: “Flying the Rainbow flag is the Trust’s way of celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion; promoting a personal fair diverse for all.

“We know that our staff perform best at work when they can be ourselves. We will be joining many other organisations across Cambridge, the UK and the world in supporting this day.”

A host of activities promoting equality and diversity were held at the hospital yesterday including a screening of the film Milk, which is based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk.
