THESE Hereward School pupils had a new classmate to look after in 1966 - in the shape of a fox called Oedipus. The small bundle of matted fur was handed to a former Hereward School teacher, Mr Shirley, who immediately put the creature on a round-the -clock feeding programme. The fox's mother and father had been hunted down and killed and the baby had been found by another teacher, Mr Hunt. However, after being nursed back to health at the school, the fox was left with a permanent limp, thought to have been caused by a trap.Pupils looked after the fox under the guidance of science master, Mr D Skell. The boys in the picture were the main carers of the fox. Who are they? Can you put names to the faces? Can you remember any of the staff involved? Did the fox continue to live at the school?
