A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs after a lorry left the A141 this morning and crashed into a ditch.

Police were called at 3.15am to reports of a collision on the Isle of Ely Way, between Wimblington and Chatteris, involving a lorry.

The A141 is closed between the Slade End roundabout, Chatteris, and Old Station Way, Wimblington, with traffic diverted through Doddington.

A police spokesman said: “The driver (of the lorry), a 38-year-old man from March, has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.”

The driver has been bailed until April 17.
