A car careered off the road and plunged into the River Nene near Whittlesey on Wednesday night, just a few yards from where a teenager was killed earlier this month.

Four people managed to escape unhurt from the car after it ended up on its roof in the river along North Bank Road shortly before 6.30pm.

Police were quickly on scene and said that all four people had managed to climb free of the car, with all but one escaping without injury.

The accident happened a matter of yards from the spot where Whittlesey teenager Hannah Louise Yates died when her Ford Ka left the road on the North Bank shortly after 7pm on Sunday, November 3.

Police are still appealing for information about that incident and anyone with details should call Sgt Tanner on 101.
