The M11 northbound between junction 8 and junction 10 has re-opened after a ‘severe’ lorry fire.
The lorry, carrying 40 tonnes of hay, caught fire around 5pm yesterday afternoon on the northbound carriageway of the M11 between junction 8 and junction 9.
Fire crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service led the incident to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby fields.
The HGV fire was put out by 3.30am this morning by firefighters and an investigation will take place to determine the cause of the blaze.
The motorway was closed until 8.50am this morning to finish emergency resurfacing works.
