A 20 year old is staging a magic show to raise money for a cancer charity using the skills he learnt while in hospital as a teenager being treated for a brain tumour.
Ryan Large, who now runs his own business Two Packs of Cards, will be performing along with other members of the Magic Circle.
“While I was in Addenbrooke’s we had performers come round to entertain the children on the wards,” Ryan said.
“I was 16 and not only loved it but really wanted to learn some tricks myself.
“They taught me some skills and it went from there really.
“Now I want to give something back to raise money for such a great charity. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Ryan is now four years cancer free and is in remission.
Last year he took part in a ‘life changing’ experience of setting sail across the Solent with the help of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
Ryan, from Benwick, finished treatment for multifocal germinoma in 2014, and decided to join 16 other young people in recovery from cancer to sail around the Solent on the south coast for four days.
“When they thought I was terminal I made a bucket list, and one of the things on there was to overcome my fears and I overcame some doing that,” he said.
He decided to help support the Brain Tumour Charity to support their tireless work to find a cure and early diagnosis for this form of cancer.
