The Magpas Helimedix was called to Coldhorn Crescent, Wisbech, at 11.25am to provide support to a man in his 70s who suffered a cardiac arrest in his car.

Upon arrival, a member of the public was waiting to drive the Magpas crew several hundred metres of the car, where the man had been successfully rescucitated by the East of England Ambulance crew.

He was placed in an induced coma while Magpas provided enhanced life support.

It was then decided it would be safer to transport the man to hospital in a land ambulance.

Upon arrival at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, he was in a critical but stable condition.

A Magpas spokesman said: “The man complained of feeling unwell and was being driven to the doctors by his wife when the cardiac arrest took place.

“We would like to send our thanks to the person who was waiting to drive our crew to the scene. It was an amazing gesture.

“We would like to wish the man a speedy recovery.”
