A man had to be cut from his vehicle and airlifted to hospital last night after a three-vehicle collision on Eastwood End, Wimblington.

A crew from March and another from Chatteris were called to the incident, which happened at around 4.20pm.

Using specialist cutting equipment firefighters released one male casualty who was taken to hospital by air ambulance with suspected serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at about 4.15pm with reports of a collision in Eastwood End, Wimblington, involving a white Mitsubishi L200 and a blue Range Rover.

“The road was closed between the Mill Hill roundabout and Manea Road.

“A male driver of the one of the cars was cut out of the vehicle by the fire service and airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge with suspected serious but not life-threatening injuries.”

Crews returned to their stations by 5.55pm and the road was reopened at around 6.30pm.
