A man in his 30s is seriously ill in hospital tonight after he was stabbed at garage in Soham.

Magpas Helimedix flew to the scene and later accompanied the man in an ambulance by road to Addenbroke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

A Magpas spokesman said tonight the man suffered chest injuries and his condition was described by doctors as “stable”.

The stabbing took place at about 2.20pm at the BP garage on the A142 Soham bypass.

A 48-year-old man was arrested following the incident and remains in custody at Parkside Police Station, in Cambridge.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at 2.22pm today with a report of a stabbing at the BP filling station in Fordham Road, Soham.

“Officers went to the scene and arrested a 48-year-old man. He has been taken to Parkside Police Station.”

The spokesman said a man suffered “a serious, but not life threatening, stab wound”.
