A MAN attempting to smuggle drugs into Whitemoor Prison whilst visiting an inmate has been jailed.
John Taylor, 51, from Bolton, was caught after a drugs dog indicated that he had drugs on him whilst visiting on June 20. A search found he was in possession of heroin, cocaine and cannabis.
Taylor was jailed for 34 months on Wednesday, after he pleaded guilty of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply at Cambridge Crown Court.
Detective Constable Kirsten Kitchen said: “John Taylor was seen by prison officers attempting to pass the package to an inmate, but stopped when he realised he was being watched.
“Taking drugs into prison is a serious offence. People who supply drugs to inmates risk being locked up themselves.”
