A MAN has been jailed for eight years for raping two girls from Peterborough in the 1970s.

David Barsby, 72, of Pinstock Lane, Gedney, Lincolnshire, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty to five counts of rape on two girls from Peterborough and one count of indecency.

The offences took place in Peterborough over several years, starting when the girls were six and 10.

Det Con Natalie Bottom said: “Barsby is a dangerous sexual predator who repeatedly subjected his young victims to numerous rapes.

“For years he thought he had got away with this but thanks to the bravery of his victims justice has finally been served.”
