A MARCH man charged with eight counts of committing arson in March town centre pleaded not guilty at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday.

Six of the eight arson charges faced by John Pollock, 62, of Richard's Close, allege that he was reckless to whether lives would be endangered.

The charges include starting three fires at the Royal British Legion in March between January 2005 and September 2005.

He has also been charged with setting fire, between July 2005 and March 2006, to:

- a waste plastic bin belonging to Mr Fixit;

- a fire door at the Griffin Hotel;

- a wooden storage shed at Yours Clothing;

- rear loading doors at Lidl store; and

- a Ford Escort car;

Pollock was remanded in custody and the case was listed for trial.
