A MAN who was arrested after a camper van containing cannabis plants was pulled out of a Fenland river has been released without charge.
A police spokesman confirmed today that officers were satisfied that the 37-year-old had not driving the vehicle when it went off the road.
Police and firefighters were called to Thurlands Drove, Upwell, on Friday morning after reports that a vehicle had plunged into Well Creek. Officers arrived to find the van, containing plants and growing equipment, partly submerged.
Fire crews from King’s Lynn and Outwell helped pull the vehicle from the river and the van was seized by police for further examination.
No-one was injured in the incident and the man was taken to King’s Lynn Police Station for questioning.
