Man rescued from water-filled ditch after March collision

A car ended up in a water-filled ditch following a road traffic collision in March last night.

At about 9.55pm, one crew from March and one crew from Whittlesey were called to Whittlesey Road.

One vehicle had left the carriageway and entered a partially water-filled ditch.

Firefighters used specialist cutting and rescue equipment to rescue a man, who was left in the care of the ambulance service. He did not require hospital treatment.

Crews returned to their stations by 10.55pm.

An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: “The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust received a call at 10.08pm to a report of a road traffic collision in Whittlesey Road, March.

“An ambulance crew and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene.

“They assessed a patient at the scene, who did not require hospital treatment.”
