A MAN who died after being hit by a train at Ely Station earlier this week has been identified.
Christopher Morgan, 39, of Rosemary Road, Waterbeach, suffered multiple injuries after being involved in a collision with the 7.45pm service from Peterborough to Colchester on November 27.
On Thursday, the coroner for North and East Cambridgeshire, William Morris, opened and adjourned an inquest into the death. No date was set for a full hearing but the cause of death was listed as multiple injuries.
Following the incident on Tuesday, a spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “BTP officers were called to the line close to Ely station on Tuesday following a report of a man being struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and Cambridgeshire police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 8.37pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics from the East of England Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
There were delays of more than an hour on all services travelling through the city, though normal service was resumed for rush hour on Wednesday morning.
