A nursery in Chatteris is celebrating after securing a glowing report from Ofsted.
Clarence House, on Bridge Street, was praised by inspectors after it visited the school last month, with all four aspects of its report described as ‘outstanding.’
Management and teaching was lauded, with Jacqueline Baker’s report describing leadership skills as ‘excellent,’ ‘professional’ and ‘outstanding.’
Behaviour of the nursery’s children was also praised, with Ms Baker’s report saying that children are ‘busy, active and behave exceptionally well.’
The report also said that the children ‘enjoy the highly stimulating environment available to them, both inside and outside,’ and that staff have ‘excellent strategies in place’ to support the children.
The nursery’s manager, Kristen Dutton, shared her pride in Clarence Houses’ fantastic achievement.
She said: “As Manager of the nursery for two and a half years, I am extremely proud of all my girls who have worked tirelessly to gain this award not only as a result for the children but also for themselves and the parents.”
After the success of the Chatteris branch, Ms Dutton has been asked to take over at the new March branch, which opened recently.
The March branch received a ‘requires improvement’ grading in its latest Ofsted, and Ms Dutton wants to change its fortunes with the help of her team.
She said: “The Nursery recently received ‘requires improvement’; therefore Clarence House Nurseries want to continue their reputation and improve March Nursery to the same excellent standard with the help of myself and Lucy Howard (previously baby room leader at Chatteris) who will be my Deputy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and parents at Chatteris for their support and cooperation during my two and a half years at the nursery, and congratulate them all on this ‘outstanding’ result.”
The March nursery is also intending to increase its capacity this summer; going from 20 places to 50.
