VILLAGERS walked for charity and raised nearly £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The second Manea charity walk saw 56 villagers of all ages take part in the event on the playing field.
Official starter for the event was Dr Richard Hirson of Manea Surgery who cut the tape. Each lap of the field counted as 500 metres and most of the walkers completed 10 laps or 5km.
Free refreshments were available for all those who took part thanks to donations from three businessmen. Janice Newell gave home-made cakes and there were contributions from Carol Frost and Manea Women’s Institute.
Manea Brownies, led by Brown Owl Teresa Elliot and Guide leaders Alex Robinson and Belinda Carson, took part in the walk raising £265 for Macmillan. The girls have now been awarded their badges for collecting funds for charity.
