Pupils from All Saints Inter-Church Academy in March have raised over £200 for Children In Need this morning (November 17) by covering a giant Pudsey Bear in coins.
The idea came from Holly Baumber, assistant head, who drew the Pudsey in chalk as a guide for the children.
Children rushed over to the bear this morning with all of their pocket money and loose change to fill the outline before the first bell rang at 9am.
The aim was to fill the Pudsey Bear with coins so by the time he’s full, the school with have a big donation to give to BBC Children In Need.
Holly said: “We always do something for Children In Need, so this year we thought we’d draw a big Pudsey with chalk and get the children to bring coins to put some colour into it.
“All of the school is involved, we’ve done lots of different things over the years. We’ve done cake sales and non-uniform days, but this year we thought we’d be a bit different and it’s nice to do something as a school together.”
Headteacher Mark Millinson said: “I’m very happy with our Pudsey Bear. I want to thank the children and parents for raiding their piggy banks this morning.
“This is our contribution that we can send to Children In Need, we’re very happy to have done it today.”
