An air cadet from March helped bring his friend back to life after he suffered an extreme reaction to alcohol.

Frasier Casson-Rennie, a corporal from 511 Ramsey Squadron ATC, was celebrating his 18th birthday when his friend, Simon Foster, of Elm, collapsed in the street and stopped breathing.

Frasier performed first aid duties, including CPR, which he had learned during his time in the Air Training Corps.

Paramedics praised Frasier for doing “a really good job” and said Simon would have been much worse had he not been there.

Frasier said: “I am very thankful for the training I received allowing me to save my friend’s life.

“It certainly will be a birthday I will remember.”

Simon said: “To perform CPR on a friend has to be one of the hardest tasks in life and I can tell you he did a fantastic job because I am here today.

“What a fantastic young man and I can only offer my thanks and love.”

The air cadets is open to all aged 12 (Year 8) to 18 years and adults aged over 20 are welcome as staff.
