An artist is exhibiting her collection of chickens at a Fenland shopping centre.

March artist Yvette Cobley’s sculptures are on display at the Wisbech Art Space, which opened in December at the Horsefair Shopping Centre.

The Wisbech Art Space, which is run in association with the Horsefair Shopping Centre and arts organisation Red Barn Creative, was established to give Fenland artists the opportunity to display their work.

The mother of three is the third artist to have their work exhibited in this venue.

She caused a stir with a mosaic human table she created which appeared on Four Rooms, a Channel 4 TV show where people who believe they have a valuable artefact get the chance to sell it to some of the country’s leading dealers.

Lorena Hodgson, of Red Barn Creative, who is curating the Art Space, said: “Yvette’s work is detailed and imaginative. She is selling in a number of prestigious galleries, including Art in the Heart in Peterborough.

“We have got paintings that have not been shown before, as well as a sculpture that is similar to one sold on the Channel 4 show Four Rooms, all from one artist. A very talented lady.”

Horsefair manager Kevin Smith said: “Yvette’s work is certainly very eye-catching. I’ve already had many shoppers stopping me and praising her work. Personally, I love the chickens – they’re so lifelike.”

Artists’ work from all over the area will continue to be displayed in the Art Space, and will be available to view and buy on the website at www.wisbechartspace.com where more information can also be found.
