A charity rugby match and family fun day will be staged on Saturday in aid of an armed forces charity.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers has assembled a team of players who took part in the world record breaking longest ever rugby game last year to take on March Bears at 3pm at Elm Road Sports Field.
The fun day, which will include PCSOs carrying out cycle coding, a raffle, bouncy castle and fairground rides, kicks off at 11am.
In the evening, there will be live music from local band Rapture.
Scotty’s Little Soldiers supports the children of men and women killed whilst serving in the British Armed Forces.
It was founded by Walpole St Andrew widow Nikki Scott, whose late husband Corporal Lee Scott was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.
March Bears has strong links with the charity - former soldier and club stalwart Simon Whittaker was one of 44 men who slugged it out for 24 hours 50 minutes at Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road stadium to raise £60,000 for Scotty’s Little Soldiers last June.
Whittaker, who retired from the armed forces last year, served in the same regiment as Corporal Scott for eight years. The club also proudly displays the Scotty’s Little Soldiers logo on their rugby shirts.
