Chatteris-based pilot and scout leader Chris St John explained to the 2nd March Beaver Scouts, who were doing their Air Activities Level 2 Badge, the controls of the Ikarus C-42 microlight. They also learnt about aviation maps and aircraft radios.

Katie Denham, of Cambridgeshire Microlights, said: “The Beaver Scouts enjoyed their visit and they all got a chance to sit in an Ikarus C-42 and try it out for size.

“A couple of them expressed an interest in learning to fly once they are old enough. They can start learning when they are 14, go solo at 16 and hold a pilot’s licence at 17.”
