MARCH Rotary Young Chef 2011, Robert Stone, competed in the second round of the nation-wide cookery competition on Saturday.
The Neale-Wade College student travelled to Bury St Edmunds to compete against seven other keen cooks.
His chosen menu included chicken supreme stuffed with mushroom duxelle and a smitaine sauce. Other dishes cooked by others include rack of lamb, red curry fish cakes, and Pelmeni - a traditional Kazastani dumpling.
The judges looked at preparation and presentation before sampling the food. Winner of the second round came from King’s Lynn and the runner-up from Norwich. They will now take part in next month’s regional finals at Hitchin. All competitors were presented with cookery books by Mayor of Bury St Edmunds, Councillor Bob Cockle.
