An open evening is being held at March cricket club to look ahead to this season's games as well as a chance for people to hear about social events lined up for the summer.

Pat Ringham, president, said it would also be a chance to hear about the new club sponsors.

The evening is for existing and new members and is on Friday 4 May at 7.30pm with a free glass of wine and buffet included.

Mr Ringham said: “Reflecting on last season’s battle against relegation everyone at March Town Cricket Club is hoping for a more successful campaign in the Whitings League this season which is now less than a month away.

“I am pleased to say that the club will again be fielding four sides on a Saturday and two on a Sunday, in addition to three boys junior teams. “In addition I am pleased to confirm that after last year’s successful start All Stars Cricket for boys and girls between the ages of five and eight will return in 2018. Sessions are due to start in May.

“This year’s array of county cricket at The Avenue will include an exciting T20 double header against Bedfordshire on Sunday June 17.

“The explosive action is due to blast off at 11am. We are also due to stage a variety of Cambridgeshire county matches.

“Away from the cricket, the club will be holding social events throughout the year, which you are very welcome to attend.”

A recent major development has been the introduction of Hugo Wright as the main club sponsor.

Details of forthcoming events are on the club website and Facebook and include:

• Monday May 21 Girls only kwik cricket festival.

• Wednesday June 6 mixed kwik cricket festival.

• Sunday June 17 March vs Bedfordshire CCC at 11am and 2pm.
