A fundraising duo from The Nottingham in March joined supermarket staff in finishing the Race For Life to raise £545 for Cancer Research.

March branch customer adviser Mia Plater-Jones and customer reviewer Carrie-Anne Johnson got together with community champion Kelly Riddell and more than a dozen of her colleagues from Tesco to run the 5k event.

Carrie-Anne said: “Here at The Nottingham we are really proud of the community link-ups we create and the events and projects we get involved with.

“Running the Race For Life was another example of that. We’d like to say a big thank-you to all of our kind-hearted customers who dug deep and sponsored us.”

A spokesman for Cancer Research UK said: “We are world leaders in finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. We receive no government funding for our research; we rely on the funds that people raise.

“Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. Your support through events like Race for Life is what helps us continue our ground-breaking work to see more people surviving cancer.”
