March fire-fighters made more than a splash over the weekend by raising £800 thanks to a charity car wash.
Despite heavy rain, crew members picked up their sponges, brooms and hoses to wash people’s cars on Saturday in aid of two charities - The Fire Fighters Charity and Dementia Awareness.
The car wash raised £400 in just three hours. It was then matched by Lloyds bank, taking the total up to £800.
All of the money raised is to be split between both charities.
Andy Powell, watch commander, said: “The event was extremely well supported despite the drizzly weather so we would like to thank everyone who brought their vehicles for us to scrub clean.”
Wayne Marshall, fire crew commander, added: “We would like to thank Lisa Newman from Lloyds Bank who came along and braved the conditions.”
