A MARCH man suffered serious facial injuries when he was hit with a brick after confronting a rowdy group.

A brick was also thrown through the window of the victim’s home, narrowly missing a woman. The 31-year-old had gone to confront the group after discovering his car had been broken into in Norwood Road shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The victim was taken to Peterborough District Hospital by ambulance for treatment and has been unable to work since the incident.

Another man who was walking in the area also confronted the group, and was chased by them with one of the men brandishing a knife. He escaped without injury.

The attack followed a spate of criminal damage and theft from vehicles in the Norwood Road and Station Road areas. Three men wearing hooded tops were seen running from the area.

Three men aged 20, 21, and 22 were arrested by police on Monday and were bailed to return to March Police Station tomorrow (Thursday).

March Sector Inspector Rob Hill said: “This was a disgusting act with no apparent motive. Not only were random cars targeted, but a brave victim was subject to a violent assault while trying to protect his property.

“We are committed to bringing these offenders to justice, and ask for any witnesses or victims that have yet to come forward to contact us.”
