A March mum is taking on a 1,000km walking challenge to raise funds for the charity that helped her through the pain of losing a baby from an ectopic pregnancy.

Deven Harrod, 22, plans to walk six times a week, around three km each time, while pushing 15 month old daughter Thea in her buggy.

She has also set up walking group, From Couch To Cardio, for anybody who wants to join in to keep fit.

Deven said: ““I am still battling with my loss and it’s something I think about every day but I want everyone to know there is somewhere to turn to.

“I found the charity a few weeks after my operation and they helped me realise not crying was completely normal and they helped me get through.

“You go through an array of emotions from guilt to anger but I always had someone on the end of the phone to listen to me.

“The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust receive no government funding and rely solely on donations, just £5 can ensure a lady is able to receive ongoing support so I want to do my bit to say thank you.

“Ectopic pregnancy affects 1 in 80 pregnancies.”

On September 16 Deven found out she was pregnant and was excited for her family’s future but on October 17 she stood up and had an awful stabbing pain in the lower left side of her stomach.

She said: “I was rushed to A&E but being late at night a scan couldn’t be done.

“Going back the next day was terrifying, I was hopeful everything would be OK but the scan showed no pregnancy.

“I was told for a six week pregnancy this could be normal.

“At my next appointment (two days later) they still couldn’t find the pregnancy and I was told to hope it was a miscarriage and not ectopic. “I was due back four days later but I got up in unbearable pain and was rushed to A&E.

“The next morning I went for a scan and they found my baby in my left fallopian tube. I was devastated.

“I held so much hope that everything was going to be fine and felt like my whole world had come crashing down.

“I went for surgery as a priority that afternoon to have my tube removed along with my baby.

“It made me realise how few people know about ectopic pregnancies and what it can do to a family so with this I am just doing my bit to help.”
