POPPY sellers were rewarded for their years of dedicated service to the Poppy Appeal when March branch of The Royal British Legion held its awards event.

More than 30 volunteers - who had given more than 500 years of service between them - were presented with various awards by branch president Barry Howlett at the event held at March Royal British Legion Club.

Receiving awards were: Five years - Kay and Alec Larham, Lynda and William Barry, Diane Bower, Linda and Peter Mitchell, Patricia Fenn, Valerie Crain,

Tracey Crain, Sylvia and Bernard Keane, Ina and Ted Rasell, Patsy Brewin, Lil and Robert Slade and Tom Binley.

Ten years - Christopher Harley, Eric Shropshall, Pat and Brian Grey; 15 years - Barbara Nicholas; 20 years - Michael Lyons, Angela and Fred Amps, Eileen and Brian Gowler, Sylvia and Barry Howlett, Janet Eastwood.

Twenty five years - George Church; 30 years - Ann Coomber, 35 years - Vicci Horry; 40 years - Janet Anderson; 50 years - Bill Fordham, Ivan Coomber.

This year’s Poppy Appeal is now in full swing and once again those volunteers will be out selling poppies.

A fund raising honour walk is being held at in West End Park in March at 11.45am on Saturday November 17. The entry fee is �1. A Poppy Appeal dance is being held at March Braza Club on Friday November 23, tickets cost �5.
