A March postman has walked from Bath to Cheltenham to raise hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity.

It is the sixth charity walk by Nick Winterton, a postman at March Delivery Office and was a 62 mile continuous hike by Action Challenge.

It takes the total he has raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to more than £11,000.

Nick said: “I’ve loved all the challenges over the years but this one will rank as one of my favourites.

“It was such a stunning area and with perfect walking conditions it made a seriously hard event a lot more bearable.

“I was running on empty through the night and the last 25 miles but experience is everything, and it guided me through the moments you get when your body says enough is enough.

“The highlight as always though was the fantastic response and generosity from everybody yet again.

“It’s a real privilege to visit all these different places and raise money for such a fantastic charity and while I’m enjoying the challenges so much I’m going to carry on.

“I will almost certainly be entering the Chepstow to Hereford event next year so watch this space.”

Nick was inspired to fund raise after visiting the hospital and being inspired and moved by the work they do.

It was his sixth charity walk - others include Norfolk Coast, Hadrian’s Wall, Jurassic Coast , London to Cambridge, Eastbourne to Arundel.

The money is still coming in but it will be around £1,500 pounds taking the overall total for his six walks to over £11,000 pounds “which is fantastic,” he said.
