Two remembrance parades will take place in March next month- the main parade on Sunday November 9 and Armistice Parade two days later.

All ex-service organisations, uniform and non uniform organisations will muster at 10am on November 9 within Mill View car park (Sainsbury’s car park) to form the March Town Remembrance Parade.

This year 13 Squadron from 42 Engineer Regiment (Geographical) now based at Wyton will be taking part and the Royal British Legion wreath will be presented by Chelsea Pensioner, Doug May.

Forty different organisations will be taking part in the parade this year and as normal the band of 1220 Squadron (Air Training Corps) will lead the parade. The British Red Cross will be supporting our event by providing the medical cover free of charge.

All serving and Ex members of the British Forces are invited to take part in this parade irrelevant if they are members or not of any organisation taking part, the future of this parade depends upon more veterans joining in. The outline of the parade is:

10.30am: – The parade will march from Mill View Car Park to St Peter’s Church paying respect to the fallen as they pass the War Memorial.

10.45am: Service of Remembrance at St Peter’s Church which will include a two minutes silence at the First World War Memorial within St Peter’s Church at 11am.

11.45am: The parade reform and march from St Peter’s Church to the War Memorial.

12noon: The parade will hold a wreath laying service at the War Memorial which will include, the Exhortation, laying of the wreaths followed by a two minutes silence .

After the Last Post, the National Anthem will be played before the Standards are marched off the parade, the parade will then be dismissed.

On November 11 ex-service standard bearers and their escorts, veterans and civil dignitaries will muster at 10.45am at the side of Barclays Bank along Broad Street. The parade will march onto the war memorial at 10.50am, present a wreath and hold a two minutes silence at 11am.
