March Neale-Wade Academy principal Jason Wing will find out on Friday (23) whether he has been crowned Headteacher of the Year at a national awards ceremony.

Mr Wing has been included in a shortlist of eight for the title in the TES Educational Awards. The presentation ceremony is being held today at the Grosvenor Hotel and is being hosted by Julian Clary.

The TES Awards, now in its ninth year, celebrates the extraordinary commitment, quality and innovation shown by teachers and support staff across the UK. Mr Wing will attend the awards along with colleagues, governors and members of The Active Learning Trust.

He said: “I was surprised to be nominated and even more surprised to be shortlisted. I am delighted to be part of the awards evening but headteachers don’t do the work that they do on a daily basis for this type of award, they do it for the students and the real reward is to see them make progress and be successful.”
