Pupils from Cavalry Primary School in March are among the 622,809 children needed to break last year’s sport stacking Guinness World Record.
The attempt is by the World Sport Stacking Association, which needs more than 622,809 children to take part in a sport stacking activity for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Sport stacking, also known as cup stacking or speed stacking, is an individual and team sport that involves stacking plastic cups in specific sequences in as little time as possible. The cups are specially designed to allow for faster times.
All classes from key stage two are taking part today (Thursday November 9) and sessions are running all through the day.
Cavalry Primary is one of the schools with the highest number of pupils taking part in the whole of the UK.
Last year’s record was set by 2,590 schools and organisations from 30 different countries on Wednesday November 16 2016.
Callum Brown, Cavalry sport coach said: “All of the children love Speed Stacking, they all knew they were being part of the Guinness World Record today alongside other schools in the UK, USA, Australia and Canada and have all been very excited.
It’s a great opportunity for the Students at Cavalry Primary to be part of such a fantastic worldwide achievement.”
One pupil said: “I can’t believe I’m being part of a Guinness World Record”
