The past, present and future of Middle Level Watermen's Club was the subject at the latest March Society meeting.

Stan Rust, representing talked about the formation of the club in 1963, how Fenland’s waterways have almost doubled in width and depth since, and the increasing volume of craft now making journeys to March.

Society members also looked at old newspaper cuttings and photographs which documented the history of the club.

The Society’s next event is the annual meeting on Wednesday, July 2, at 7pm in March Library. It will be followed by a talk by Edna Stacey on March’s Roads and Bridges.

Admission is £1.50 for society members, £2.50 for non-members.

• The March Society needs more members to carry out more projects. Membership costs £5 single or £8 joint at same address. Membership for under-18s is free.
