A woman has appeared in court charged with six counts of animal cruelty.

In a case brought by the RSPCA, Gemma King, 29, of Mallard Way, March, is facing two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and four counts of failing to ensure the welfare of an animal under the 2006 Animal Welfare Act.

The alleged offences, which involved four horses, took place between October 17, 2012, and April 17, 2013.

King is alleged to have not provided the horses with adequate farrier and hoof care or an adequate supply of fresh water.

She is also alleged to have caused the horses suffering by not providing adequate parasitic control.

Her case was adjourned at Peterborough Magistrates Court at a date yet to be set.
