Three months before her wedding Sharon Cadman was feeling unattractive and desperate to shed weight for her big day.
Previous diets had failed to help her reduce her size 28 figure so it was with some trepidation that she signed up for a Slimming World Group.
But within the first week Sharon, 30, from March, had lost four and a half pounds and was already feeling confident she had finally found the answer to her weight loss prayers.
She said: “I wanted to make a change. I was feeling tired, unattractive and anxious, and I was desperate to lose weight before my wedding at the water’s edge on a beach in Turkey.
“I was fed up of being tired all the time with no energy and feeling so down about how I looked. Shopping for clothes was so hard, especially for the wedding and honeymoon, it was a nightmare. I felt huge and unattractive.”

Sharon had tried numerous weight-loss plans from calorie counting, to GP health schemes and meal replacement shakes to tablets - all with little success.
“I would restrict myself to small portions of food during the day, but by the evening I would always end up so hungry I would revert back to my old ways of binging on takeaways and junk food.

“I love to eat, so cutting back felt like torture,” said Sharon, who even tried joining a gym but anxiety over how people would view her size 28 body and lack of energy prevented her from going more than the first week.
But a poster changed all that.
“I spotted a poster about slimming World and thought I would give it a go. That first night I went to the group I was so nervous,” said Sharon.
Sharon couldn’t believe how much she was able to eat including all her favourite meals on the Slimming World plan.
“As soon as I saw that first week’s weight loss I believed 100% that this plan was right for me. I wasn’t ever hungry and ate more that week than I had ever eaten before when trying to lose weight.” Sharon went on to lose over a stone before the wedding.
After the wedding Sharon continued to attend the group and enjoyed regular weight losses.
Now she has attended her Slimming World Group for a little over two years and has lost over five stone and dropped six dress sizes.
“I no longer feel isolated and look forward to seeing my friends on a weekly basis. I love catching up with my friends outside of the group too and sharing recipes and support and advice when we need it,” said Sharon, who with her husband enjoys hosting family gatherings.
Sharon has gained the energy and motivation to start exercising and attends weekly exercise classes with friends and enjoys running up to three miles.
Gone are the uncomfortable size 28 trousers, and in are the pretty, slim, size 16 dresses.
She said: “I love the new confident me, every morning I slip on a dress and step into my heels to head to the office. I now feel like a lady every day and the compliments I receive from my colleagues on how feminine I look are so kind. Losing weight has definitely helped me to feel beautiful both on the inside and out.”
Sharon has been inspired by her success to help others achieve their weight loss goals by opening a new weekly Slimming World Group in March.
The new group opens on Thursday January 7. For more information call Sharon 07403 765 976.
