Rebecca Bradshaw won the grassroots coach award at England Netball’s Regional Goalden Globes held in Felstead, Essex.

She is head coach at Ladybirds Netball Club who train at Neale-Wade Academy and play in the Wisbech Netball League.

Last year Rebecca’s co-head coach and close friend Sarah Oldham was killed after being struck by lightening while playing golf with her husband in Turkey.

In June Rebecca organised a Sarah Oldham netball memorial tournament that saw 13 teams competing and raising over £700 for the junior development within the club.

Janette Bowden, Cambridgeshire’s netball development officer, said: “I decided Rebecca was more than worthy of this prestigious award so nominated her.

“Becca is very humble and doesn’t realise how much she is thought of by her friends and players within the club so to get this award is just brilliant.”

Sarah was 39-years-old and described as a big character of the netball club; Rebecca has since held the club together and got on with the job.
