A Fenland gangmaster arrested during the raid by 300 police and other agency officials last October has been charged.

Martyn Slender, 45, has been charged with one offence under the Gangmasters Act which entails being illegally provided with workers/services.

Slender, who ran his firm from Longhill Road, March, has been bailed to make a court appearance on February 19.

The news comes as another labour provider from March, Robert Divkovic, who ran Roberto Mac Ltd in High Street, was cleared of all charges. He still faces unspecified action, however, by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority.

The Fenland crackdown – named Operation Endeavour- uncovered more than 80 workers from Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and Estonia thought to be subjected to exploitation.
